We are an Impact lab based in Brooklyn. Our focus is fusing cutting-edge technology with business models that positively impact people and the planet.

There's no doubt Large Language Models (LLMs) are rocketing humanity to astonishing new heights. But we've got to be careful. These models can also amplify our problems like never before. With this new speed comes a whole new load of responsibility. Our overarching focus is on regeneration,sustainability and social justice now and over the next hundred years.

So we started Wave Labs, a company that uses AI to cook up impactful products, analyze what people love, and turn triple bottom-line ideas into reality at the speed of thought.

Born to ride the wave

A hungry fool once called the computer a "bicycle for the mind." He was talking about the way this tool allowed people to think faster and get where they want to go faster as well.

Most of our team was born around the turn of the 21 century, and even after decades of innovation, the statement still rings true. The computer feels like an extension of our bodies, a tool that opens new worlds, strengthens connections, and sparks creativity. In other words, we were born biking.

What GUI?

Now, think of how you use a computer. That's right, tapping, clicking and point — the graphical user interface or GUI for short.

That's a fancy term for all the windows, icons, buttons, and menus we use to tell the computer what to do. At this point, the muscle memory of using a GUI is almost as natural as breathing

But in 2022, the world stumbled on a new kind of “transportation,” a new human-machine partnership. The performance of Large Language Models (LLMs) reached new heights, their capabilities in everyday tasks becoming impossible to ignore.

Interface is now akin to face to face; working on your computer is like talking with a friend. For the first time, we can tweak the software to feel more human. What's even crazier is that this new tech can handle intricate tasks in custom situations; for example, AI can remove redundant tasks in complex projects like software development, data science, scientific experiments, and academic research.

With computers doing the grunt work and giving us a speed boost we as humans can focus more on what we do best: be empathic, curious, flexible, and creative , those are the traits humans use best to turn great ideas and valuable solutions into tangible outcomes.

If the PC is a bike for the mind, AI is like strapping jet engines to that bike. That's why we need a new way of thinking.

We're using AI to forge tech solutions that do good from the get-go. After all, what's the point of a "bicycle for the mind" if we speed off the path and smash head-first into a tree? Wave Labs is zooming in on three main idea spaces where we can make a positive impact:

The Green Future: We're facing a rapidly worsening climate crisis that threatens all life on Earth. We’re working on projects that tackle this through climate tech software and green technology. We're developing products to help understand and combat global warming, biodiversity loss, extreme weather, and rising sea levels. We're also focusing on helping displaced people, often called climate refugees. Our technology aims to prevent irreversible damage to our planet and promote long-term healing and stability.
Cyberspace Humanism: The digital world is a nonstop part of most folks' lives, but it's not always fair or equal space. We aim for digital space design that prioritizes people's well-being, just as car designers prioritize passenger safety. We're creating new ways to make money online that value creators and challenge the current ad-driven models. We're building systems that appreciate what users contribute rather than how much they click or engage.
Grassroots technology for Healthcare Disparity: Even with modern medical technology, not everyone has the same access to good healthcare. Access is often determined by how much money people have. Everyone should have the right to healthcare, no matter their situation. We're developing solutions to bridge this healthcare gap. We're working on technology to make health systems more accessible to often overlooked communities. We're also empowering people to understand their health better.

An impact lab is a powerhouse where thinkers, creators, and builders unite. It's a space where research meets creativity, software development collides with design, and bold ideas take flight as real-world products. We test new concepts rapidly and efficiently using an experimental, science-style approach.

And thanks to AI, we can explore and validate more ideas than ever.
